The credits/cast still list the old man actor as Anakin S. I guess H.C. (the young actor) was uncredited or something?
In the "newer" Star Wars VI (ROTJ) it shows the "young" Anakin at the end (Christiansen) but
Easy....the body is still of the original actor....H.C. was nothing more then a special effect put in over his face. Can't be credited.....
Reply:This is the one change that Lucas made in the DVD versions of the OT that sparked a monster debate among fans that really hasn't cooled off yet. The reason Lucas has given for making this change just doesn't wash with most fans. It's really arrogant of us fans to tell Lucas that a part of his story is wrong but so be it because his thinking is wrong ... try telling him that though ... lol ...
The reason Lucas gave was that your "Force Ghost" took on the form you had when you died and that Anakin Skywalker died when he turned to the dark side. Personally it doesn't wash with me just like it didn't with about 90% of the fans. At the end of ROTJ Anakin Skywalker finally wins the battle of wills that had raged inside his soul since he turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader. Darth Vader was destroyed and Anakin Skywalker returned to the "light side" of the Force. Therefore, Anakin Skywalker died in his son's arms on Death Star 2 and his "Force Ghost" should have been that of Shaw, the actor who played it in 1983.
I think that deep down Lucas knows he made a mistake here but he is to proud, pigheaded and stubborn to admit it.
Reply:i noticed the same thing...i wonder when they'll change it...or if they'll change it...
Reply:I think George Lucas knew in his heart that it was a silly change (putting HC in the movie) and therefore they never changed the credits.
Anakin's character didn't become good until the end of ROTJ so therefore the original actor should have remained. It doesn't make sense that the young Anakin (HC) appears because he had turned to the Dark Side at time in his life.
