MANILA (AFP) - The Philippine government is to appeal a move by the US to ban some 17,000 nurses who passed the 2006 nursing examination amid allegations of mass cheating.

The United States Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) issued the temporary ban this week insisting that Filipino nurses retake sections of the 2006 examination where mass cheating took place.


President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Friday ordered Labor Secretary Arturo Brion to appeal the decision.


The order comes after a nursing review centre disclosed it had leaked answers to some students who took the examinations.


The scandal rocked the country's medical profession and cast a shadow over the quality of its nurses, who are in high demand overseas, especially in the United States, Europe and the Middle East

What's your take on US banning nurses from the Philipines.?
if they are cheating then they don't know what they are doing. i worked with a female who was born in the united states. when she was 2 months old her parents took her and her twin brother back to poland. she was not able to learn english. she went to nursing school in Poland. when they decided to come back to the states she tried the nursing field. she was told to learn english and they would give her a test. when i last saw her she had learned alot of english and still worked in a bindery. i guess she didn't cut the mustard when she took the test.
Reply:The Phiillipes is not unknown for selling fake college certs. There are even those who happen to have worked in drug stores or as hospital helpers claiming themselves to be qualified nurses. Phillipines is also infamous for Mail--Order Brides:

Reply:LOL then we would ban half of our nurses cuz they are mostly Phillipinos, hey its true, then we are all going to die ahh!!!!
