Bengali people?
The natural heritage in India is as rich and diverse as the cultural heritage. Nestled in this rich land are the Bengal people. The largest living member of the people has a rather graceful built and gait. Bengal man is the fastest running human. Its length can measure up to 7 feet and has a weight ranging from 48 to 95 kgs.

The habitat of this group varies from the swamps of the Sunderbans to the desert land at Ranthambore, from the foothills of Himalayas at Corbett National Park to Bandipur in the peninsular India. The beauty of the bengal people can now be seen in its natural surroundings in these areas.
Reply:if you were born in Bengal then you are a Bengali - your religion is of the Islamic faith so you are also a Muslim in the same way i was born in England so i am English and i don't believe in god so i am an atheist although i was born of christian parents.

Reply:I think you should see yourself, however you want to.

I have many Bengali friends who all have very diiferent views. Most are westernised so share some of the more common Muslim beliefs but not others. Some do not see themselves as Muslim at all.

I think it comes down to what you want and how you would like to live your life. If you want to believe something and live your life a certain way do it, as long as it doesnt hurt anyone else there is no problem.

As for the history of Bengal, try Google (ing) it or try Wikipedia (very good site for practically anything). As well as this there are many Bengali forums where you might find people who can give you more hands on real information.

Hope this helps.
Reply:Im bengali and im Muslim too.

but ive lived in London all my life so i don't really count myself as Bengali as ive never really lived there only gone there for short breaks.

I've always counted myself as Muslim first.

I guess u have to decide what part of you is more important. But that does not mean that u can't be both and call yourself both. We all have multiple identities.

I really don't know much about the Muslim rulers of Bangladesh, but i do know that the place where i'm from, which is Sylhet, was taken over from a guy called Shahjalal and his followers. They were Muslim and they brought Islam to the city of Sylhet. (I think it was something was like that.)
