Semi-permanent hair dye - damge hair???

Semi-permanent hair dye - damge hair???

I am seriously considering putting a semi-permanent dye in my dark brown hair. I want it a little bit darker, but my principle aim is to make it more glossy and rich. My ideal colour would be very very dark brown, almost black. I would love something like this:

My main concern though is that it will cause hair damage. I really want to keep my hair healthy. Will it cause split ends, dry hair, etc?

Also, can anybody recccomend a good brand? Has anybody tried L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss in Iced c=Chocolate or L'oreal Casting Colourant in Jamaica?

Help much appreciated! Thank you!

If you make sure to use a good color shampoo, you should be fine. Don't leave the dye in much longer than rec commended, and make sure that as your hair grows you get your hair trimmed regularly, every 6 weeks approximately. You shouldn't have a problem as long as you treat your hair right! Ask your stylist or whoever cuts your hair which products are best. I love Biolage, but have found that if you use it for too long it's not very affective. Also, for good color I've used mostly Herbal Essences and Clairol - and of them are good. Don't ever buy a cheap brand because it's cheap. Pay for the name on the bottle. It's worth it!
Reply:garnier nutrisse is the best ....it has avocado oil in it and it makes your hair real shiny and feels thicker
Reply:If you don't want to damage your hair at ALL then don't dye it...really. But if you are going to dye it please don't use store bought dye like at grocery stores, wal-mart etc...Those dyes damage your hair because they have a lot of unnecessary chemicals they add. Many hair stylist have told me so. Which is true cos I have a friend who is studding cosmetology. Buy your dye at a Sally's beauty supply store and if you have any questions they can help. As for like products that can help keep your hair look'n healthy. Good luck.
