11 is A and 12 is C. (I am positive that these answers are correct.)





In 11, the first part of the sentence is in past tense and the second part of the sentence is in present test. So that is the example of a shift in verb tenses.





For 12, the word been is the clue that C is passive. "In sentences written in passive voice, the subject receives the action expressed in the verb; the subject is acted upon. in 11, the first half of the sentance uses the past tense "were" and then in the second half it switches to present tense "like"





Not entirely sure why D for 12, but it sounds right.
