Hi...I don't listen to what ever makes you happy...pick that job...or it's not about the money...blah blah.
I grew up where my father made 220K...that's 6 figs.
There was a reality show controversy on Mtv about showing: Six figure VS. Great figure where these babes fight to win a bacholer who makes 100k at least a year... I never considered that ANYTHING AT ALL!!! The decided not to air, b/c they have enough fighting over all attractive casts and almost nudity and discriminations.
---------------------
ANYWAYS..
1.If I took a job of 100k a year...Would that be significant? Would I be happy? What kind of home would I probably have?
2. Is this a lot? Or nothing?
3. Ladies...be honest! would you date someone making 100k or do you strive for much more...Would you be happy with this amount or ehh...ok...
4. What is a good amount?
5. What is a great business to start? How much is the average income?
6. Anything else you want to include?
THANKS!
MEANS EVERYTHING! :-)
Is a 6 figure salary good?
To answer the question in bold: a six-figure salary doesn't hurt. I believe there was a study done by a university that studied the link between money and happiness. Families needed money to make ends meet. That money would increase happiness. However, they found that about $30k per year was the limit. $30k is all you need to meet your basic needs. Above that, your chance for happiness is the same no matter how much you make.
1. $100k per year is a significant amount. That is what doctors and lawyers make (on the lower end of the scale). You could be happy if you always make sure your needs and bills are met before anything else. I'm from a suburb of Oklahoma City. Land in Oklahoma is cheap and property taxes are low. $100k a year here would probably get you a really big house. However, remember that $100k per year won't get you a manor or mansion anywhere (in the U.S.).
2. Yes it is a lot. The average household income is around $50k. Split that into $25k per parent. $100k is a lot of money.
3 and 4. I'm not a lady so I'll leave this for someone else to answer.
5. Any top ten list of the highest paying jobs is dominated by doctors. Pay ranges from $100k to $200k. It can go further up once you have lots of experience and you've made a name for yourself. Start a private medical practice in a big city.
You could also be a lawyer. Salary in the law vocation is dependent on the clients and their cases. Multi-million dollar litigations are the big thing today.
Is your dad willing to help you out financially? You might be able to get started as a stock market investor or broker. If you master the stock market, your income could approach one million dollars per year. Your job is to buy stocks at low prices and sell them at high prices.
There's also the option of starting your own bank or lending firm. Predatory lending seems big today. It's basically lending money to people you know won't be able to pay you back. That way, you can seize whatever they used to secure the loan (car, house, business) and sell it for profit. The profit here is limitless but you need a lot of starting money to lend out.
You could buy life insurance policies from aging seniors at a discounted price and collect your profit when the time comes for the insurance company to pay out. This is slightly underhanded but profitable. You could make thousands per policy.
And of course there's always winning the lottery. ;)
If you haven't caught my drift yet, jobs dealing with money are the highest paying jobs. I know I didn't really recommend good businesses, but I have a reason. The economy is always changing, and what's a good business today may not be a good business tomorrow. However, these things I've listed pay well forever (almost).
I personally hope to become a doctor.
anyways, that's my two cents
Reply:1. this would be significant. I can't tell you if you would be happy, because money can do a lot to a person. You would probably have a pretty nice home; especially if you wer to live with someone that had an income as well.
2. This is a lot for one person to make in a year.
3. I don't date people for their money, but if you did make this much, I wouldn't complain.
4. It depends on what you plan on doing with the money on whether or not it is a good amount.
Reply:100k isnt crap to live on, its o.k. if your single with no kids or parents to support. If you lead an active life, like to gamble at least once a year, 100k will get you nothing. I recruit for a living, if I had no kids, home, and bills I would tell you that its crap. To make it now a days with chicks being high maintenance and wanting the world when you first meet them, you will need to make at least double that. In my industry the best paying jobs that are out there are sales reps that work for major pharmacuetical companies and medical device manufacturers. Other top sales spots are within the mortgage industry, either way you will work your butt off to make the money and spend it in one weekend. My advice is go with the medical sales side or take your time get your degree and then get into sales. You get to travel they pay for your car and meals, make money overnight. You need the education to understand what you are selling. Good luck! Make a million or marry a rich chick!
Reply:This question depends largely on where you live. For example, I'm in Las Vegas where $50K is GOOD money. $100K per year means you only need one person working to not only be comfortable, but have a good chunk of change left over. However in San Diego, CA it's still comfortable but it's not as much money as it would be alsewhere. It also depends largely on who you are and what type of lifestyle you're accustomed to. Are you the type that buys tailored clothing? Are you Saks 5th Ave or Walmart? Are you Jaguar or Hyundai? Do you eat out or cook? On vacation do you prefer roughin' it in the woods, camping in a tent and sleeping on the ground or do you need 5-star luxury, room service and expensive souvenirs? The more simple your lifestyle is, the less money you'll need.
On a more personal note, if my man were making $100K a year I could quit my job and be a stay at home mom. That would make me happy :) But everyone's different.
Reply:i think $100,000 is really enough. my dad made about that and it is a lot really $220, 000 is way a lot! i think you can have a nice home any nice things and be happy w/ about $100,000 maybe a little more depending on how much you like to spend!~ good luck! you could do much more if you did nt buy a home in california also!
