Use a proportion to solve the problem.?

i tried but i can figure this out please help.

A building casts a shadow 31 m long. At the same time, the shadow cast by a 37-cm tall pole is 58 cm long. Find the height of the building.

A. 19.8 m

B. 47.1 m

C. 18.3 m

D. 48.6 m

Use a proportion to solve the problem.?
Let x = height of building

x/31 = 37/58

x = (37)(31)/(58) = 19.8 m

ans. A.

that's it! :)
Reply:x/31=37/58

1. 31x37=1147

2. 1147/58=19.8

So the answer is A
Reply:x/31= 37/58

58x = 31*37

x = 31*37/58 = 19.8 m

The fact that the measure are different doesn't matter here. Set the proportion as the height of first/height of second = shadow of first/shadow of second.

x/37 = 31/58

Multiply both sides by 37.

x = 19.8m
