How do you catch the reekfish for gamecube? Any tips?

OK. I have the coral earring and im at zoras domain, fishiing at mother and son rock, and i see the reekfish. They pull my bobber completly under water but when i pull my "c stick" down it comes up empty! i have been on this part for 1 day. I know, you have to turn into the wolf and all of that but i cant get the reekfish in the first place! Heres what i do. i stand on the edge of the shore, and cast my line. The reekfish come and take the float completly under water. As soon as this happens, i pull my "c stick" down and the line jerks out of the water. But it comes up empty. I wanted to know if im doing somthing wrong. Do i need a special fishing rod? Please, WHAT DO I DO!!!!!! Thanks in advance

You might be pulling it up too early. Try waiting a couple seconds longer to allow the reekfish to really munch on the hook. It's a little tricky, but you'll get it if you play with the timing.
